CROWN AND BRIDGEWORK

In dentistry, crown and bridge refers to the restoration of natural teeth that have been damaged, decayed or lost. Both crowns and most bridges are fixed prosthetic devices. A crown is used to entirely cover or "cap" a damaged tooth. A bridge may be recommended if you're missing one or more teeth.

Once your dentist has examined your teeth and has evaluated your dental and medical history, he/she will be ready to provide a diagnosis, and treatment options. A crown may be constructed to restore an individual damaged tooth back to it's original form and function, while a bridge may be utilized to replace one or more teeth. These restorations are cemented onto the teeth and are referred to as "fixed" dentistry as opposed to a restoration of missing teeth with a removable appliance or partial denture.

A crown can also be placed on top of an implant to provide a tooth-like shape and structure for function. Porcelain or zirconium crowns can be matched to the color of your natural teeth. Bridges are commonly used to replace one or more missing teeth. They span the space where the teeth are missing. Bridges are cemented to the natural teeth or implants surrounding the empty space. These teeth, called abutments, serve as anchors for the bridge.

Our Clinic offers metal-free solutions for crowns and bridges. They work with the latest CAD/CAM computer-aided design and computer-aided milling technology (Procera) to provide the most aesthetic solution when crowns or bridges are placed on implants.

TYPES OF CROWN AND BRIDGEWORKS AT BATORFI DENTAL CLINIC:

Porcelain crown or bridge fused to metal (Nickel-free, Nickel&Iron Free):

Dental crowns made of porcelain fused to metal are stronger than all-ceramic versions and more aesthetically pleasing than those made of metal. However, their metal shell gives porcelain fused to metal crowns an opaque appearance. Because they lack the reflective quality of natural teeth, porcelain fused to metal crowns are not as discreet as all ceramic crowns. Additionally, over time, a thin metal band may be visible along the gum line with this type of crown. They are usually not recommended to be applied on the front region, for that there are more aesthetic options are offered.

Procera All-Ceram full porcelain crowns or bridge:

The secret behind Procera All Ceram is its unique combination of strength and beauty. Procera All Ceram combines excellence and strength with beautiful aesthetics. The material consists of 99.5 percent pure aluminum oxide and is biocompatible, thereby ensuring excellent long-term aesthetics. It is translucent, giving the tooth a natural appearance. We also recomend Procera for prosthetic reconstructions anywhere in the mouth. It is an excellent bio-compatible material, giving natural beauty to the teeth, either used as veneer or a crown/bridge solution.
